Meet our Team
All of our staff hold Enhanced DBS Certification and undergo annual First-Aid and Safeguarding training.
Emily has been head of camp for 3-years now, (she's the one all those emails are from!). During term-time, Emily is a dance teacher and is in her final year of degree study. She also holds qualifications in safeguarding, child protection, preventing bullying, administering medicine, and more.
During term time, Matty works as a Pastoral Officer in an SEN provision. He has a BSc in Sports Coaching and is a keen football coach, he has previously coached football in the United States! Matty's commitment and enthusiasm have made him a vital part of the SportNE team since 2020.
During term time, Ryan works as a Pastoral Officer in a SEMH school. Outside of work, Ryan plays semi-professional rugby, and has played both football and rugby at a professional level. Also, Ryan is currently the 1st team play coach for Ryton Rugby Club.
Elliott is a vital part of the SportNE team and has helped the camp grow into what it is today. Elliott is a Sports Science and Sports Management graduate and now works in education, he also plays and coaches rugby. Elliott is a massive Sunderland fan (to the dislike of most of the kids!)
Elena is currently studying towards her Master's in Education at Newcastle University, where she has gained experience working in local primary schools in Newcastle. She has also previously been a sports coach in the USA. At SportNE Elena works with our youngest children.
Ben is currently studying Psychology and Sports Science at Newcastle University. Ben is a qualified basketball coach and has experience coaching and refereeing basketball for a variety of ages. He also plays basketball at a national level.
Devon is currently completing her teacher training and recently achieved her Education degree. Devon has a passion for arts and crafts and loves football. She takes the lead role in caring for our youngest children on camp, and loves taking on the role of 'football ref' for our older kids!
Holly is a Sport and Exercise Science graduate, she has trained and competed in various sports, from club to international level. Within these clubs, she has coached the younger athletes in the squad in rowing and swimming. At SportNE Holly coaches our 6-7-year-olds.
Rory currently studies policing at Sunderland University. He is a qualified Level 7 football referee. Rory has played football, rugby, and cricket to high levels. He is a massive Middlesbrough fan and a proud season ticket holder since he was 4!
