FAQ
Where is Sport North East based?
We have two venues, one in central Newcastle, and another in Jesmond.
- Newcastle University Sport & Fitness Centre
- Newcastle Preparatory School, Jesmond
Will my child be in the same group as their friends?
If you want to make sure your child will be with their friends, just send us an email or ask at drop-off! Our groups are loosely based on age, although there are times when our age-groups mix, such as wrap-around or arts & crafts.
What activities will my child be doing?
Children will usually have 4 activity sessions throughout the day, for our older children this is usually 3 sports sessions, and then something different such as arts & crafts, or a team building challenge.
For our younger groups, we understand they need a little more freedom in their day, so our Leapfrogs (aged 3-5) would typically have 1 sports session, an arts and crafts session, and time to play outdoors.
We also have occasional themed days, which have previously included scooter and bike days, martial arts workshops, and much more!
Our Leapfrogs often have story-themed days, such as the Gruffalo or Hungry Caterpillar, where all the activities link back to our favourite stories!
What if my child isn't very 'sporty'?
At Sport North East, we are about so much more than just Sports! We pride ourselves on being able to provide a fun, enjoyable experience for all children, no matter their interests!
Our younger children have the opportunity to craft and play games together each day, while our older children also have time to play, they also have opportunities such as our Junior Coaching Program.
We believe in a child-led approach, if we have a group of children and none like football - we won't be playing football! Our experienced coaches adapt sessions to make them enjoyable, interesting, and challenging for all children, no matter their abilities or interests.
Will I receive any feedback about my child's day?
Our coaches at hometime will be more than happy to let you know how your little one has been and what activities they've been doing, so you're always welcome to stop for a chat!
We know little ones don't always have the most accurate memory of their day, so our Leapfrogs (aged 3-5)) bring home a 'daily diary'. This lets you know who's looked after your child, what activities they've done, and any other important info, such as if they've made a new friend or didn't like something in their lunchbox.
At the end of each week, we also send home a link to our photo album, which contains photos taken throughout the week, this is a great way for you to see not only what activities they've done, but for them to show you who they've made friends with!
Do you have a waiting list?

Alternatively, you can add yourself to the waiting list via our booking site.
